Floyd County Jail officials said that three inmates have been charged with starting a riot after attempting to start a fight in the J block of the Jail. Reports added that Marquis Dontreal Word, 22, Antonio Darralle Williams Jr., 28, and 33-year-old Gregory Bernard Watkins then attempted to cover their mouths and noses with a towel in order to conceal their identity and protect themselves from potential chemical agents used by deputies.
Reports added that the men refused to go into lockdown during the altercation and also encouraged other inmates to do the same.
Williams is now charged with inciting a riot. He has been in the Floyd County Jail since June 6 of this year on charges of possession of marijuana, simple battery, aggravated assault and a hold from Bibb County.
Word is now charged with inciting a riot. He has been in jail since July 6 of this year on a court order.
Watkins is also charged with inciting a riot. He has been in jail since July 20 of this year on charges of fraudulent documents and a child support warrant.
