Redmond Regional Medical Center hosted a ribbon cutting for its new internal medicine residency program Tuesday.

Ten resident physicians, including Dr. Jatan Patel, a Rome High School graduate, were named as the first members of the program.  Others included: Zubda Talat, Yasra Moursy, Vince Lee, Saima Kochloo, Paul Wesley, Lauren Mims, Hanadi Khalil, Gurkamal Hans and Chandrika Raiyani.

The program has taken three years of planning before Tuesday’s ribbon cutting.

The program will be housed in the Thomas F. Frist Sr. Center for Graduate Medical Education at 100 John Maddox Drive.

Frist was a founder of Redmond’s parent company, Hospital Corporation of America in Nashville, Tennessee.
