Two Floyd County men pleaded guilty to child molestation in separate cases this week. David Stephen Toney, 70 of Rome, was sentenced to 25 years in prison and life on probation. Gerald Bruce Lewis, 69 of Armuchee, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, to be followed by 10 years of probation.
Reports said that Toney pleaded guilty to aggravated child molestation for acts that occurred between January 2015 and August 2015. He also pleaded guilty to sexual battery for groping an inmate at the Floyd County Jail.
Toney has been previously convicted for rape in Kentucky. Reports said that he had sex with the victim twice, once when she was 12 and once when she was 14.
Lewis pleaded guilty to two child molestation charges. Authorities said that he inappropriately touched the victim between Jan. 1, 2011, and July 12, 2015
