A 60 year-old Rome woman, Gussie Turrentine, was arrested on Sunday after she called 911. Reports said that Turrentine notified authorities that she was drowning on John Davenport Drive. When officers arrived they discovered that Turrentine drove her PT Cruiser though a police barrier that had closed the road for the flooding waters.

She told officers that she was on the telephone and ended up in the deep water before she knew it.

Officers said that after Turrentine refused medical treatment they noticed a smell of alcohol. The officer said that she then failed numerous field sobriety tests.
