Floyd County police arrested David Franklin Brown, 40 of Rome, on numerous drug charges following a traffic stop. Reports said that Brown attempted to escape officers by driving at a high rate of speed through an apartment complex lot and then when he pulled over he attempted to flee on foot.

Following a foot chase officers allegedly found 44 grams of methamphetamine in two plastic baggies. They also found a reportedly stolen gun on his possession.

Brown is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, theft by receiving and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.

In addition to the felony charges, he is also charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of an officer and driving with a suspended license.
