Arthur Lewis Borders of Cedartown pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rome to conspiring to distribute a controlled substance. He was ordered to forfeit his H2 Hummer, a bass boat, a shotgun and 2 motorcycles along with numerous other items as part of his plea agreement. He was facing 40 years in prison as well as a maximum fine of $5 million and a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison.

Borders is now facing a minimum of 10 years’ in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 23.

Borders was arrested last March after he was accused of trying to buy $33,500 worth of cocaine from an undercover agent.

After he fled police a search of his home uncovered 1 and a half pounds of cocaine, a half-pound of marijuana and about a pound of methamphetamine. Agents also found 55 gallons of moonshine and an alcohol still in a storage shed, as well as 28 firearms, several vehicles and cash.
