The Rome Alcohol Control Commission approved a beer and liquor pouring license for a new sports bar in front of Mount Berry Square Mall in Armuchee. The former site of Treasure Island is being converted into `Buchanan`s Sports Bar.`
The bar will be owned by Rodrigo Barahona, who once was associated with El Patron on Redmond Circle.
Barahona said he got the name Buchanan`s from the Scotch whiskey of the same name.
He added that he is still working on plans for the inside but said he is hoping that the bar will accommodate between 400 and 450 customers. He said that the establishment will also feature a stage for live bands and deejays to perform.
The bar is expected to open in July.
