An investigation by our Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has led to the arrest of Jacob Wheeler, 25, of Cherokee County. During an ongoing Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation, our investigators identified Wheeler as a suspect. After being contacted by Georgia authorities, our investigators also learned that Wheeler had active warrants in Georgia related to child sex crimes.
Our investigators executed an arrest warrant and search warrant at Wheeler’s residence on County Road 793, where he was taken into custody without incident. Members of the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force assisted with the operation.
Wheeler has been charged in Cherokee County with seven counts of Possession with Intent to Disseminate Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
