Mrs. Phyllis Lemming Ware, age 85, of Rome, GA, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at her residence.
Mrs. Ware was born in Clearwater, FL, on October 18, 1940, daughter of the late Eddie Carlton Lemming and the late Doris Summerville Lemming. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Annette Loveless. Mrs. Ware moved to Lindale mid-way through her junior year of high school and attended Pepperell. She graduated in 1960 from Pepperell and married the love of her life soon after. Mrs. Ware held various occupations, from florist, to the Lindale Mill, working at Harbin Clinic, in the shipping department of “Outside Carpet”, and working at the Lindale Cafeteria “Hotchie’s”, but her favorite job title was homemaker. She was a longtime faithful member of Lindale Methodist Church where she was extremely active in every event and church activity should could serve in.
Lifetime chaos coordinator, as her son described, Mrs. Ware relished the many hats she wore as a mother of two boys. She constantly ran them to every event, team, or club they were a part of. Mrs. Ware loved deeply and fiercely and would do anything to help. She loved birdwatching, the beach, gardening, and had a fascination for medieval history. Mrs. Ware loved her family and cherished every minute with them. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and visited them every opportunity she had. Above all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Not a day went by that Mrs. Ware was not in the scripture strengthening her relationship with Him and is now in the Lord’s presence for eternity.
Survivors include her loving husband, Hugh Ware, Rome, to whom she was married on July 1, 1960; 2 sons, Steve Ware (Pam), Cedartown, and Jim Ware (Amber), Rome; 4 granddaughters, Corey Howle (Nathan), Meagan Akins (Adam), Haley Gilbreath (Jake), and Ragan Dill (John Andrew); 7 great-grandchildren, Maddox Akins, Ella Reese Akins, Blake Howle, Maisie Howle, Jack Howle, Finley Jean Gilbreath, and Mary Clayton Dill; a niece and nephew, Lee Carver (Stacey), and David Loveless; numerous cousins and other extended family whom she loved dearly.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1pm on Thursday, October 9, 2026, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Marc Dwiggins officiating and members of her family providing the eulogies.
