A 34-year-old Cedartown man, Christopher Michael Chesla, was arrested following a reported domestic dispute involving his girlfriend, according to a Cedartown Police Department incident report.

Officer King was dispatched to the Cedartown Police Department regarding a domestic incident that had occurred the previous night. The officer spoke with the victim, who said she and her boyfriend, Christopher Michael Chesla, had gotten into an argument on Aug. 21.

According to the report, the victim said that Chelsa asked whether she still wanted to be in a relationship with him. When she said she did not, she told police that Chesla began yelling and throwing coat hangers.

The victim alleged that Chesla then pushed her onto a bed and held her down by her legs. She told him to let her up because she wanted to leave, according to the report.

The victim said Chesla eventually released her but then grabbed her in a manner similar to a hug, preventing her from leaving. She told police that he later released her and allowed her to leave the residence.

Officer King subsequently met with the victim at a residence on South Main Street and asked him about the incident. The victim reportedly said the woman had been drinking and acknowledged that the argument began after he asked whether she still wanted to be with him.

When asked whether the situation became physical, Chesla acknowledged grabbing the victim around her body “like he was hugging her,” according to the report. He told the officer he did not want the woman to drive because she had been drinking and said he eventually let her go so she could leave.

Chesla was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail for booking.

According to the incident report, Chesla faces charges of false imprisonment and simple battery.
