AdventHealth officially broke ground Thursday on a new hospital campus in Chatsworth, marking a major investment in healthcare services for Murray County and communities across Northwest Georgia.
Community leaders, elected officials, healthcare providers and AdventHealth team members gathered at the future hospital site at 3181 U.S. Highway 76 for the ceremonial groundbreaking. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was among those who spoke during the event, highlighting the project’s importance to the region.
The new AdventHealth Murray campus will replace the existing hospital and is expected to open in spring 2028.
The approximately 185,000-square-foot campus will include a 42-bed hospital and a medical office building designed to accommodate the area’s growing healthcare needs.
“This groundbreaking represents much more than the start of construction,” said Isaac Sendros, president and CEO of the AdventHealth Georgia Market. “It reflects our long-term commitment to investing in Murray County and ensuring families have access to advanced, compassionate and faith-based care close to home.”
Sendros said the new facility will allow AdventHealth to serve more patients, expand services and continue its mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
The new hospital will increase inpatient capacity while expanding emergency and surgical services. Plans also call for critical care services, a cardiac catheterization laboratory, advanced imaging technology and additional outpatient specialty care.
AdventHealth officials said the expanded services will strengthen the region’s continuum of care and give residents greater access to specialized medical services without having to travel outside the area.
The existing AdventHealth Murray has established a reputation for clinical quality, earning a Leapfrog Top Hospital designation as well as a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The new campus is being designed to build on that foundation while providing modern, patient-centered spaces focused on healing and wellness.
The project will also incorporate materials intended to reflect the area’s character. Stone sourced from Northwest Georgia will be used in the construction, creating a connection between the hospital and the community it will serve.
In addition to expanding healthcare access, AdventHealth officials expect the project to contribute to economic development and create jobs in Murray County and surrounding communities.
With construction now underway, the new AdventHealth Murray campus is expected to become a significant addition to the region’s healthcare infrastructure when it opens in spring 2028.
