Pastor Frank B. Terpening, age 70, of Rome, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 17, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Pastor Terpening was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 7, 1956, son of the late Kidd Gilbert Terpening and the late Juanita Claire Craig Terpening. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Terpening. Pastor Terpening worked for Seven Hills Place for several years prior to retirement. He was truly a servant of God. He received his Bachelor of Bible & Pastoral Theology from TBC in 1998. Pastor Terpening and his family moved to Rome in 2000 to become the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. He spent many hours serving the Lord here in Rome and was a strong supporter of missions abroad. Pastor Terpening had gone on many mission trips to various places around the world.
Pastor Terpening is survived by his wife, Susan Smith Terpening, to whom he was married on September 11, 1976; three children; Tim Terpening (Melissa), Peter Terpening (Melody), and Amy Howard (Ian); 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three siblings, Berny Terpening (Linda), Dori Morrissey (Ron), and Rachel Grochocki (Jerry); several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Rev. Terpening will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2pm at Trinity Baptist Church of Rome with Rev. Steve Cape officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1pm until the service time.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at 1:30pm and include Tim Terpening, Peter Terpening, Kohl Terpening, Andrew Moore, Ian Howard, William Kronmaier, Mike Long, and Richard Goodwin.
