Ociel Martinez, 18 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he assauledr a 24 year-old woman with a knife.
Police said that prior to them arriving on the scene, the suspect fled the residence on foot and was located a short distance away. The suspect refused repeated lawful commands and physically resisted attempts to detain him by pulling away while being handcuffed.
The investigation determined the suspect had allegedly threatened family members with a knife, placing them in fear of receiving a violent injury. The suspect also damaged a window screen while fleeing the residence through a window.
Martinez is charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespass and obstruction.
