Anali Ortiz Mendez, 28 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said shs struck a child multiple times, causing visible injuries and inflicting excessive physical and mental pain.
The incident occurred on July 3, 2026, at a home on Wingfield St. SW in Rome.
The affidavit states that Ortiz Mendez “maliciously caused excessive physical and mental pain” to the child, who is under 18. The document said that Mendez grabbed the victim by the hair while he was in the shower, and proceeded to slam his head against the wall. Mendez then allegedly struck the child in the stomach with a detachable shower head.
Mendez is charged with felony charge of cruelty to children in the first degree.
