A Cartersville man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that investigators say occurred nearly a year ago. According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Brian Todd Barron was booked into the Bartow County Jail , on a felony murder charge.
An arrest warrant alleges that on July 30, 2025, Barron drove up to a man who was standing along the shoulder of a roadway before opening fire. Investigators say multiple shots were fired, with one bullet striking the victim in the abdomen.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he underwent several surgeries. Authorities said he later died from complications related to his injuries on Nov. 3, 2025.
Following the victim’s death, investigators obtained a felony murder warrant against Barron. He remains in the Bartow County Jail as the case moves through the court system.
