Taylor Diaz Avant, 35 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to destroy police evidence.
Police said that while responding to a fight, they found Avant had attempted to eat several pills that were suspected to be oxycodone. Reports added that Avant was later found to have had a handgun in his possession.
Avant is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
