On Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, Randall (Randy) Allen Green, 69, left his Earthly body and entered the gates of Heaven greeted by his precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Randy lived a sacrificial life with a steadfast devotion to his Lord, family, friends, colleagues, and students. Always a man of unmatched integrity, a constant source of encouragement, and an unrelenting drive to provide for his family. He was a simple, selfless man, always putting others ahead of himself, a spiritual leader within his family, a trustworthy source of advice, and one to never hesitate to say “I love you.” Randy was never one to boast or flaunt instead his desire was to lift up others.
Randy was the son of Dr./Rev. Jimmie Allen Green and Juanita Mae Key Green who predeceased him and the son-in-law of William (Willie) A. Green and Doris Bailey Green, former owners of Greenland Skating Center. He is survived by one sister, Debbie Green Ely, Silver Creek, Georgia, and one brother, Dr. James Timothy Green (Beth), Louisville, Kentucky with whom he had close relationships with. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ken Green, Panama City Beach, Florida as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and family members, each who held a special place in his heart.
Randy married the love of his life, Sherry Anita Green, on May 30, 1980. For 44 years, 11 months and 2 days and they shared a marriage of love, commitment, and steadfast devotion to one another. They had one precious daughter, Kasey Christian Brant who was born January 7,1983. Completing their immediate family tree, they welcomed with great excitement one grandson, Brody William Brant, on June 22, 2007, who became the joy of all of their lives. Randy took great pride in being Brody’s “Gindaddy” and served as an ever-present father figure in Brody’s life.
Randy was a Tenured Professor of Criminal Justice & Political Science at Georgia Highlands College where he was employed for 35 years, 7 months and 10 days. He completed a 32-year distinguished law enforcement career in July 2011, after serving with the Rome Police Department for four years and then with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles for twenty-eight years, retiring as a Regional Director. In addition to GHC, he previously taught at Shorter College, Berry College and Georgia Northwestern Technical College. He held an M.PA degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science and many prestigious law enforcement certifications and received many law enforcement and teaching awards. One of Randy’s lasting contributions to the law enforcement community could be found in his service on the Community Criminal Justice Foundation.
In addition to his love of teaching at both GHC and in the EMajor Criminal Justice Bachelor’s program, he co-owned, with Sherry and Kasey, Southern Style and Stash, an apparel, home décor and gift store in downtown Cartersville, Georgia. He was proud business owner and loved being in the Christian environment that permeated the store. When not teaching and advising students, watching Brody play baseball, reading volumes of books about the Lord and His servants, Randy could be found at the store or home, his “happy places.” He found the greatest pleasure serving and guiding his family and others. Randy and his family attended Cross Point City Church in Cartersville, Georgia where he loved being in the presence of the Lord.
We welcome you to a Celebration of Life for Randy Green which will be held at Northside Church, Rome, Georgia Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
