The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed in a shooting-related incident earlier this week in the Woods Bend community near Centre as that of 42 year-old Misty Ann (Thomason) Loveless, of Rome.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, May 26, and remains under investigation by authorities. According to initial reports, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 5:30 a.m. after receiving a call reporting that a female had suffered a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, first responders immediately began lifesaving measures in an effort to save the victim. Authorities also requested a medical helicopter to transport the victim; however, weather conditions prevented the aircraft from responding. Despite emergency efforts, Loveless was pronounced dead at the scene.
