Amanda Hope Sellers, 38 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she failed to send her 10 year-old child to school.
Reports said that Floyd County Schools repeatedly notified Sellers of her child’s absences after being charged with truancy in April 2025. Since that date, Sellers reportedly allowed her child to miss 44 days of school, 15 of which were unexcused. Reports added that in November 2024 Sellers signed a truancy agreement after missing 31 days of school, 16 of which were unexcused. For this school year, Sellers child has missed 39 total days, 12 unexcused.
