The Rome Alcohol Control Commission approved a request to allow monthly drag show performances at Peachy Pub for the remainder of 2026.

During the meeting, Mr. Guljar Singh and others appeared before the commission seeking permission for the special entertainment events. Promoter Hal Floyd outlined the proposal, requesting approval to host the shows one Sunday per month from noon until 4 p.m.

The approved dates include May 17, June 14, July 19, August 16, September 20, October 18, November 15, and December 13, 2026. Floyd noted that similar events have been held at the venue in the past without incident.

Following discussion, commission member Taylor McMichael made a motion to approve the request as presented, which was seconded by Courtney Shepard. The measure passed unanimously.

Secretary Smith also clarified state regulations regarding alcohol service on Sundays. Under current Georgia General Assembly law, establishments serving alcohol must meet a 50/50 ratio of food to drink sales to qualify for Sunday pouring. While Rome voters have previously approved Sunday alcohol sales, businesses that serve only beer or wine and do not operate as restaurants remain ineligible under state law.

Smith added that there have been efforts to amend the statute to give local governments full control over Sunday alcohol service decisions, though no changes have yet been enacted.
