Ellis Franklin Land Jr, 48, and Ericka Nichol Land, 39, both of Rome, were jailed this week after reports said they allowed their child to be truant.
Police said that Land was previously arrested on October 1, 2025 for allowing their child to miss school. Since the arrest, reports stated that they have continued to allow their child to miss 13 unexcused days of school. This is in addition to 42 tardies.
Both are charged with the mandatory education of a child.
