Railroad maintenance will continue in Floyd County next week, bringing temporary closures to two crossings as crews work to complete part of a larger improvement project along Riverside Parkway.

According to officials, the crossings will close at 6 a.m. on their scheduled dates and are expected to reopen within about 24 hours once construction is completed.

The first closure is planned for Monday, March 16, at the railroad crossing on Darlington Drive.

Work will then move to the railroad crossing on Maple Road on Tuesday, March 17.

During the closures, drivers will be detoured using Old Cedartown Road and Cedar Avenue. Officials said signs should already be in place to alert motorists to the upcoming changes.

Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and notify friends and neighbors who may use the affected crossings.

Officials also noted that while this round of work will wrap up next week, crews are expected to return in several months to complete the overall project along Riverside Parkway.
