Community members in Polk County are invited to take part in a hands-on effort to improve their local environment as Keep Polk Beautiful hosts its annual Great American Cleanup on April 11, 2026.
The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with multiple meeting options available for volunteers. Participants can gather at 8:30 a.m. at Goodyear Park on West Avenue in Cedartown if they plan to follow organizers to Hematite Lake. Alternatively, volunteers may go directly to Hematite Lake and be ready to begin at 9 a.m.
Organizers say the event is part of a nationwide initiative focused on reducing litter, enhancing public spaces, and encouraging community involvement. Supplies such as gloves and trash bags will be provided.
Volunteers will also receive a free Great American Cleanup T-shirt while supplies last.
“Events like this help bring people together while making a real, visible impact,” organizers said. “It’s a simple way to give back and take pride in our community.”
Keep Polk Beautiful continues to lead local efforts in environmental awareness, recycling, and beautification throughout the year.

Organizers encourage individuals, families, and groups to participate as part of Earth Month and help keep Polk County clean and beautiful.
