James Craig Lea, 45 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he was found driving under the influence of drugs during a traffic stop for having a license plate that belonged to another vehicle.

Police added that it was then discovered that the vehicle that was being driven did not have a valid registration.

Reports went on to say that after failing a field sobriety test, officers found Lea to have been driving under the influence.  A search then resulted in officers locating methamphetamine and multiple opened alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle.

Lea is charged with possession of methamphetamine, DUI, concealing the identity of a vehicle, open container and operation of an unregistered vehicle.
