Ashley Nichole Butts, 22 of Rome, was arrested in Rome after reports said she tried to destroy police evidence.
Reports said that Butts conspired with Brian McKinney to destroy evidence on a cellphone by intentionally draining the phone’s battery by repeatedly calling it.
Reports added that Butts had prior knowledge that the phone was in police custody after the other suspect’s arrest on various drug charges.
Police went on to say that the incident was captured on a jail recorded line where the accused could be heard actively calling the phone.
While being taken into custody, Butts was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and a digital scale.
Butts is charged with possession of marijuana, conspiracy to violate controlled substance act, possession of drug related objects and felony tampering with evidence.
