A Rome man was arrested this week after authorities say he held a woman and a young child against their will during a domestic incident at a home on McGrady Road. According to reports, Brandon Michael Hunter, 33, allegedly prevented a 31-year-old woman from leaving the residence while a 4-year-old child was present.

Investigators say Hunter shoved the woman as she attempted to leave and grabbed her arm, causing visible injuries near her elbow. During the altercation, she was reportedly pushed against a set of stairs and suffered a cut to her right foot that caused bleeding.

Police also allege Hunter took the woman’s cellphone to prevent her from calling 911 and held her head down while covering her mouth to keep her from yelling for help.

In addition, Hunter is accused of damaging a doggie door valued at about $50.

Hunter faces charges including two counts of false imprisonment, second-degree cruelty to children, two counts of battery, obstruction of a person making an emergency call, criminal trespass, and two counts of simple battery.
