Wiliam Jerry Hulsey, 46 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after a traffic stop resulted in a drug arrest.
Reports said that a Polk County police officer was conducting stationary speed enforcement on Morgan Valley Road between Hillside Drive and Horseshoe Circle, an area marked as a two-lane roadway with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
While monitoring westbound traffic, the officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Using a rear radar antenna, the vehicle was clocked at 70 miles per hour—25 miles per hour over the posted limit.
The officer initiated pursuit and notified E-911 of the traffic stop. Emergency overhead lights were activated, and the vehicle came to a complete stop just before Stringer Road.
Hulsey is charged with possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence and speeding.
