Calvin Lamar Richardson Jr, 19 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said that an incident at a store on North Division Street resulted in him tossing Mountain Dew on an officer.
Reports said that events began when Richardson acted in a tumultuous manner and made the store clerk feel in fear for her safety. The clerk told authorities that Richardson refused to leave the store despite numerous requests to do so.
The arresting officer said that when they attempted to escort Richardson out of the store he poured the Mountain Dew over him.
Upon arrival at the jail, Richardson allegedly refused to exit the patrol car. Once inside the jail, Richardson is accused of fighting with officers, resulting in a cut to their elbow.
Richardson is charged with simple battery, simple battery against a police officer, unlawful acts in a penal institution, two counts of obstruction and disorderly conduct.
