Dewel Wayne Hammitt Jr, 52 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attacked his former spouse and broke her belongings.
Police said that Hammitt shoved the victim to the ground during a dispute on Gray Rock Drive. He is then accused of damaging the victim’s phone by throwing it the ground.
The cellphone, a Motorola Moto 6, was valued at $2,000.
Hammitt is charged with simple battery, criminal trespass and probation violation.R
