Mrs. Edna Lois “Pearl” Pledger Hardin, age 87, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Hardin was born in Floyd County on November 6, 1938, daughter of the late Tom Pledger and the late Gretha Smith Pledger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Thomas Hardin, and her siblings, Jessie Atkins, Wayne Pledger, and Hershal Pledger. She was a member at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church.

Edna was a proud graduate of Armuchee High School, class of 1957. She did a lot of things throughout the years, but she spent most of her working years as the office manager of Higgins Shoe Store. She was very active four days a week, still driving herself to her groups: Shorter Avenue Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry, the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church, and the Tabitha Sewing Ministry at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, and she made toboggans for all of the kids in her grandchildren’s classes throughout the years. She also made dresses for children in Guatemala and Mexico. She enjoyed traveling with Leisure Time, but not as much as she loved her family. She will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her daughters, Selena Hodges and Donna Rosser (Tim); her grandchildren, William Hodges (Lauryn) and Sam Hammond (Dani); her great grandchildren, Norah Hammond and Eli Hammond; her siblings, Mary Nell Evans, Burl Pledger, Charlene Pettyjohn, and Irene Tredaway; her ‘adopted sons’, John and Mike Hardin; her special friend, Bob Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:00 pm at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with her Pastor, Jeremy Albright, officiating. A private interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a later date.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the church from 2:00pm until the hour of service. At other hours, they may be contacted at Selena’s residence in Big Texas Valley.

Honorary Pallbearers are her friends from Prayers and Squares Quilt Ministry, the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Tabitha Sewing Ministry.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you consider donating to: Shorter Avenue Baptist Church Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry in her memory.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Edna Lois “Pearl” Pledger Hardin.
