Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) recently finished five five major projects in Northwest Georgia and opened them to traffic. Contracts for the projects totaled more than $51 million, with the largest project being the Villa Rica Bypass in Carroll County.

The $26.8 million project was built between State Routes 101 and 61 and now provides truck traffic a route around the downtown area to reduce congestion.

  • Replacement of the bridge on SR 293 over Dykes Creek in Floyd County, $8.5 million.
