Robert Jasper Wright Jr, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he led officers on a car chase while intoxicated.
Police said that Wright was found driving on a suspended license when he sped away instead of pulling over. After eventually stopping, police said that they discovered Wright to be highly impaired.
Officers went on to say that Wright then proceeded to attempt to run away on foot in an effort to avoid being taken into custody. He was later found and arrested on Maple Road near Willingham Road.
Wright is charged with obstruction, driving on a suspended license, attempting to elude police, DUI, reckless driving, running a stop sign, headlight violation and probation violation.
