Geraldine “Gerry” Greer Wood, age 89 of Lindale, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 23, 1936, in Rome, Georgia, Gerry was the daughter of the late Vaudry Deolia Greer and Ada Vandiver Smith Greer. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Leah Stover; her grandson, Kyle Stone; her sister, Rebecca Greer; and her son-in-law, Herbert “Kim” Rains.
Gerry was a graduate of Rome High School where she played in the marching band. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lindale. She worked hard providing for her family. She enjoyed spending time with everyone and sharing stories about family history. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s ballgames and other events. Gerry loved all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; always very generous and willing to help them in any way she could. Gerry cherished her relationship with her brother, Roger. She was an avid reader studying The Bible, history, gardening, and nutrition. She enjoyed watching old movies and college football. She will be truly missed.
Those left behind to honor her memory are her loving daughters, Gerrice Rains, Maria Lamade (Mark), Holly Barber, Jane Weeks, and Emily Abernathy (Jamie); her brother, Roger Greer (Connie); 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
