Mrs. Bonnie Sue Payne Holden, age 93, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Holden was born in Floyd County, Georgia, on October 21, 1931, daughter of the late Floyd Payne and the late Irene Williams Payne.

Bonnie was a graduate of Rome Girls High School at the age of 16. She began her secretarial career working in the Fairbanks Company and later worked for the construction company that built the papermill in Rome. Once construction was completed on the papermill, she was hired by Rome Kraft and continued her employment with them through the many iterations of names for forty-four years, until her retirement from the Forest Division.

Bonnie was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend.

Survivors include her grandson, Trevor Max Holden; her sister, Shirley Howard; her sister-in-law, Linda Payne; and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Harold Holden; her son, Michael Harold Holden; her granddaughter, Savannah Rose Holden; her sisters, Patricia Camp and Juanita Simpson; and her brother, Creig Payne. Bonnie now walks with the angels who preceded her in death.

Bonnie was an avid golfer, scoring six holes-in-one with the last one scored when she was 83 years old. She later took up fishing and was very proud of the big bass she caught at Weiss Lake while fishing at her nephew, Barry Simpson’s, lake home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00pm, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Rev. Mike Purdy officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
