As the effects of the ongoing government shutdown continue to ripple through local communities, one Rome restaurant stepped up this week to show appreciation for federal workers feeling the pinch. Marco’s Pizza, operated by local franchise owner Claude Corbin, provided lunch to employees at the Social Security Office in Rome as a gesture of support and solidarity.

Corbin said the decision was simple: “These folks are part of our community, and they’re going through a tough time. We just wanted to make their day a little easier—and make sure they didn’t have to worry about lunch.”

The team from Marco’s Pizza delivered an assortment of pizzas, salads, and sides to the Social Security Office earlier this week. The meal was met with smiles and gratitude from the staff, many of whom have been directly impacted by the shutdown.

Ruthiey Hampton, a representative from the office, expressed heartfelt thanks, “Huge thanks to Claude Corbin and his gang at Marco’s Pizza for serving our office lunch. It really lifted everyone’s spirits during a challenging time.”

Corbin and his team say they’re proud to serve the Rome community and hope their small act of kindness encourages other local businesses to lend a helping hand wherever they can.
