Georgia Highlands College (GHC) is marking a season of major achievements and new beginnings, highlighted in the latest Quarterly Update from President Mike Hobbs. The report showcases the college’s growing impact on students, the community, and the state’s workforce.

Among the highlights:

  • “Where Talent Meets Purpose” – GHC continues its mission to prepare students for success in the modern workforce.
  • More than $80,000 raised for student scholarships, helping students access quality education and graduate with less debt.
  • Top in Georgia for Online Learning – GHC was recently recognized as the state’s best college for online education, offering students the same high-quality experience whether studying fully online or through hybrid classes.
  • Strong Return on Investment – A GHC degree is valued at $1.4 million over a graduate’s lifetime, underscoring the college’s commitment to affordable, high-value education.

In addition to these milestones, GHC is inviting the community to a Groundbreaking Ceremony on November 6 at the Floyd Campus in Rome (3175 Cedartown Highway, Rome, GA 30161). The event marks the next phase of the Lakeview Building Renovation, a nearly $12 million project that will expand facilities for the Nursing and Dental Hygiene programs.

The project—made possible through state and local support championed by the governor and regional legislators—will enhance healthcare education and help prepare the next generation of professionals.

Event Details:

  • Groundbreaking Ceremony: November 6 at 5:30 PM (Outdoor Ceremony)
  • Reception: 6:00 PM, hosted by Atrium Health Floyd

President Hobbs encouraged the community to join the celebration, saying the renovation reflects GHC’s ongoing commitment to innovation, opportunity, and student success.
