Thermon Clark Burnette, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, regrettably passed away at the age of 89, on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Thermon was born on April 25, 1936, in Sparks, Georgia to the late Eldridge Alvin Burnette and Bessie Flora Burnette (formerly Weeks).

Born with a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family, Thermon spent 28 years as a master machinist with Union Carbide before retiring in 1994. Retirement, however, did not slow him down. In 1995, he proudly opened Burnette’s Machine Shop, where he continued to pour his dedication and craftsmanship into his work. At just 21 years old, Thermon married the love of his life, Charlotte, in 1957, beginning a partnership filled with love, devotion, and countless memories. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and laughter. For 47 years, Thermon was a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and loyal servant of the Lord. Beyond his career and his faith, Thermon found joy in many passions. He was an avid turkey hunter who not only loved the sport but also crafted his own turkey calls. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle, and he cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, affectionately named “Rat.” Those who knew Thermon will remember his incredible storytelling, sharp wit, and sense of humor. He was also famously stubborn and loved a good argument, though always in a way that left others laughing. Above all, Thermon’s greatest love was his family, whom he supported, protected, and cared for unconditionally. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, and love that will be carried on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Charlotte Burnette (formerly Roberson); his son, Tommy Burnette (Ann); his grandchildren, Stephanie Bullock (Travis) and Steve Burnette; his great grandsons, Isaac Bullock, Kody Bullock, and John Bullock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 3:00pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with pastor Don Spears officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Burnette, Steve Burnette, Travis Bullock, Isaac Bullock, John Bullock, and Kody Bullock. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Larry Joe Hardy and Ed Brumbelow.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Thermon Clark Burnette.
