Jermaine Ringgold, 42 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he beat a 26 year-old woman on the face in front of children.
Police said that the victim suffered “substantial visible bodily harm” from the attack, which occurred on Hardy Avenue.
Ringgold is also accused of taking the victim’s cellphone in an effort to prevent her from dialing 911 for help.
Ringgold is charged with battery, obstruction of a person making a 911 call and cruelty to children.
