Jason Matthew Mitchell, 45 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found drunk in public and then later attached a deptuy at the Floyd County Jail.
Police said that Mitchell was taken into custody at the Big H store on East 12th Street when he was in a drunken state using profane and vulgar language.
After arriving at the jail, Mitchell allegedly attacked a deputy, resulting in the bleeding from the victim.
Mitchell is charged with simple battery against a police officer, obstruction ,and city drunkenness.
