After over a year of construction, Cedartown’s newest landmark is ready to welcome the community. The city is set to celebrate the completion of Lankford Corner with a dedication ceremony and grand opening on Friday, September 26, at 4 p.m.

Nestled at the intersection of South Main Street and Ware Street, the event venue is being hailed as a cornerstone of the city’s downtown revitalization efforts. City officials are eager to unveil the 6,000-square-foot facility, which they believe will serve as a focal point for community events and tourism.

Work on the project began in the summer of 2024, with an initial completion target set for spring 2025. However, delays due to weather and supply chain issues pushed back the timeline, ultimately leading to the fall opening.

Designed to blend modern aesthetics with the natural beauty of the area, the structure features an innovative combination of glass, brick, and exposed timber. Large glass panels and roll-up bay doors offer a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a versatile environment for events. Inside, the building boasts a catering kitchen, restrooms, and state-of-the-art technology that will support a wide range of activities, from corporate seminars to weddings.

The surrounding area also received a thoughtful upgrade, with streetscaping, a butterfly garden, and an expansive event lawn. A newly constructed asphalt parking lot ensures ample space for guests, with the venue occupying a full acre of land.

The nearly $4 million project has been funded through a combination of sources, including a $750,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, city SPLOST funds, and generous contributions from the W.D. Trippe Foundation.

Lankford Corner is designed to host events ranging from intimate gatherings of 50 to larger affairs of up to 300 people. Its versatility also makes it an ideal space for business training and organizational meetings, thanks to its advanced technological capabilities.

The venue’s name honors the Lankford family, particularly Jim and Jean Lankford, long-time advocates for small business and the local community. The Lankford family’s donation of the land came with the stipulation that it be used to benefit downtown Cedartown, a legacy that will now be carried on through this new civic space.

As the city gears up for its grand opening, residents and visitors alike are excited to see how the new venue will enhance Cedartown’s downtown area and attract more visitors to the region.
