Calhoun City Schools has officially named its softball field in honor of Diane Ralston-Smith, celebrating the legacy of Georgia’s all-time winningest high school softball coach.

Now known as the Diane Ralston-Smith Lady Jackets Softball Field, the facility pays tribute to a coach whose impact stretched far beyond the diamond. Ralston-Smith led Calhoun’s softball program to statewide prominence, mentoring generations of athletes with her trademark discipline, sportsmanship, and leadership.

The dedication ensures her name remains a permanent part of Calhoun athletics, inspiring future Lady Jackets to carry forward the tradition she helped build.

A public celebration is planned for Friday, October 17, with a pre-game ceremony and reception ahead of the Calhoun vs. Gilmer football game. Former players and community members are invited to attend and honor a coach whose influence still resonates across the city and the state.
