A 28-year-old Rome man, Naterrious De’Marcus LeCroy Floyd, has been charged with multiple offenses related to alleged fraudulent activity involving a motor vehicle title.

Floyd is facing charges of making false statements and writings, as well as altering, forging, or counterfeiting a motor vehicle certificate of title. According to authorities, Floyd submitted an affidavit of inheritance while attempting to register a vehicle, claiming that all heirs and the surviving spouse of the deceased vehicle owner had agreed to the division of the estate, including the transfer of the vehicle to him.

However, investigators report that the owner’s surviving spouse and other heirs are actively contesting that claim and have not agreed to Floyd receiving the vehicle. Additionally, Floyd allegedly failed to disclose a security interest on the vehicle and concealed other important information in his application.

Authorities say Floyd does not possess the legal title to the vehicle and made material false statements during the title application process.
