Kenneth Randall Fortune, 63 of Kingston, was arrested in Rome this week after reports said he fought with emergency responders after drinking a half gallon of alcohol and going for a joy ride.

Police said that Fortuned ran a stop sign on Flowery Branch Road and crashed his vehicle.

Reports added that when emergency responders arrived, Fortune physically resisted officers while refusing to go to a hospital.  After arriving at the hospital, Fortune allegedly sat on a guardrail and refused to move until being forced inside by security.  Once inside a room, Fortune allegedly kicked a nurse while trying to fight other staff.

Fortune is charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, open container, stop sign violation, obstruction, and two counts of interference with emergency medical professionals by use of threats and violence
