Chief Superior Court Judge Jack Niedrach has recused himself from a pending case with local justice advocate Mark Swanson just one day after being assigned, leaving the matter temporarily without a presiding judge.
According to court documents, Judge Niedrach did not provide a reason for his recusal, which is not uncommon in judicial proceedings.
His decision marks the fourth judicial recusal in the case, following Judges Billy Sparks, Kay Ann King, and Brian Johnson.
In addition to the judges, District Attorney Leigh Patterson and all assistant district attorneys in the Floyd County office have also previously recused themselves from the case.
With all local Superior Court judges and prosecutors now withdrawn, the court has not yet named a replacement to handle the matter going forward.
No further comment has been issued by the court regarding the reasons behind the series of recusals or what steps will be taken next in the judicial process.
