Dakota Joseph Godfrey, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after he was accused of burglarizing a home on Old Summerville Road.

Reports said that Godfrey entered the home, damaged the glass on a gun cabinet, and stole a Ruger Mark II.

He is also accused of stealing jewelry and a 1999 Honda CRV.

Authorities added that Godfrey also damaged the garage door to the point it did not function.

In a separate incident, Godfrey is accused of refusing to leave a home on McGrady Road.

Godfrey is charged with first degree burglary, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, two counts felony theft by taking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal trespass, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and three counts probation violation.
