Al Kemford Newman Jr, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he threatened to whip his father with a belt.
Reports said that Newman held the belt in an “offensive” position that placed him in fear.
The incident occurred at an apartment on Chateau Drive.
Newman is charged with simple assault.
