The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Allatoona Lake Project, has created a shoreline restoration area at Tanyard Boat Ramp, located at 4705 Tanyard Creek Road NW in Acworth, Georgia.
Approximately 200 buttonbush plants have been placed in the area to help support the local ecosystem. These native plants provide food and shelter for wildlife and help prevent shoreline erosion.
Tanyard Boat Ramp is intended for lake access, but over time, the area became an unofficial beach.
This led to safety and maintenance concerns, including violations of no-wake zones, illegal activities, parking issues, and increased trash. The restoration effort is designed to return the area to its original use and improve overall conditions.
“Restricted Area” signs are now in place to protect the new vegetation and discourage public entry into the restoration site. The boat ramp remains open. The updated area opens Friday, May 2.
