Steve Lorenzo Miller, 60 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he reached for a knife while being arrested on drug possession.
Police said that they were attempting to detain Miller for a failure to appear warrant when he reached into his pocket to retrieve the knife.
After deescalating the situation, Miller was then found to have been in possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device.
Miller is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, obstruction of law enforcement and failure to appear.
