A 22 year-old Centre, Alabama man was found dead in a ditch in Rome on Tuesday.

Reports said that the man, identified as Zachary Champion, was found down an embankment on Woods Road near Garden Lakes Parkway.

According to Rome City Police, Champion was part of a grass cutting crew when he apparently had a medical emergency and fell down into the ditch.

Police added that it appeared that Champion drowned after falling.

His weedeater was found, still running, near his body.

Champion’s body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy, but no foul play is expected.
