Nathan Nacoma Blackmon, 42 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he tried to discard of a gun while leading police on a chase down Trillium and Redfern Trails.

Police said that Blackmon refused to stop for them when they attempted a traffic stop.  Blackmon then proceeded to drive at speeds of over 68 mph in a 25 mph zone.

After eventually pulling over, Blackmon jumped out of his vehicle and then fled on foot.  During the chase, Blackmon is accused of throwing a gun into a bush at 3 Redfern Trail.

When Blackmon was eventually captured, officers discovered that he had been driving on a suspended license and with a tag that did not belong to the vehicle it was attached to.  Police also said that they found that his load was not properly attached to his vehicle.

Blackmon is charged with driving with suspended registration, driving on a suspended license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, attempting to elude police, unsecured load, operation of an unregistered vehicle, concealing the identity of a vehicle, speeding and running a stop sign.
